puton，着重于“穿”这一动作，即由没穿到穿这一动作的完成，意为“穿上、戴上””后接衣服、鞋帽等。
例如：
Iwantyoutoputonthiscoatandthishat.
我要你穿这件外套，戴这顶帽子。
Putonyourheavywintercoatifyouaregoingout.
如果你要出去，穿上你的厚冬衣。
wear“穿着；戴着”，表示状态，宾语可以是衣帽，也可以是饰物、奖章等。而dress,puton一般不这
样用。如：
Heseldomwearsawatch.他很少戴表。
HewearsredT-shirttoday.
You’dbetterwearblueorblackpantswithblownshoes.
穿棕色鞋子的时候,最好要穿蓝色或黑色裤子。
Whydoesheoftenweardarksunglasses?他为什么经常戴着深色的太阳镜？
Hewaswearinganewjacket.他当时穿着一件新夹克。
Suchclothesarenotoftenwornnowadays.现在那样的衣服很少有人穿了。
dress可表示动作，常用人作宾语，不接“衣”作宾语，意为“给……穿衣服”。在表示“自己穿衣”时可说
getdressed（=dressoneself）。当dress表示状态时，一般要用bedressedin形式。dressup强调着意打
扮，意为“穿上盛装、乔装打扮”。例如：
Mysonisnowabletodresshimself.我儿子现在自己会穿衣服了。
It’stimetowakeupandgetdressed!该起床穿衣服了。
Sheisdressedinafurcoat.她穿着毛皮大衣。
Shealwaysdresseswell.她总是打扮得很漂亮
注：dress还通常用于被动语态。如：
Thegirlwaspoorlydressed.这女孩衣着寒酸。
in是介词，表示“穿着、戴着”之意，后接表示衣服或颜色的词，着重于服装的款式或颜色。
它所构成的短语只能作表语或定语。
Hewasinanewblackcoat.他穿着黑色的新外套。
Thegirlinredismysister.那个穿红衣服的女孩是我妹妹。
