Dujiangyanistheoldestandonlysurvivingno-damirrigation
systemintheworld;andawonderinthedevelopmentofChinese

Yuzui,FeishayanandBaopingkouscientificallydesignedto
automaticallycontrolthewaterflowoftheriversfromthe
mountainstotheplainsthroughouttheyear.
Yuzui,likeabigfishlyingintheMinjiangRiver,isawatershed
dividingtheriverintotwoparts:innerriverandoutsideriver.
FeishaYanisaspillwaythatdivertsthesandandstonesofthe
gKou,likeaneckofa
bottle,isusedtobringwaterintotheinnerriverfromMinjiang.

hreepartsinteract
witheachotherperfectlytoformaneffectivewater

Minjiangwaterisbroughtintotheinnerriverforirrigation

situationisreversedinthefloodseasonensuringthewater
supplyforirrigationandprotectionfromfloodingonthe
ChengduPlain.
ThereisamagnificentbridgecalledtheAnlanCableBridge
crossingtheMinjiangRiveraboveYuzui,whichisthemost
structionofthebridge
originallycommencedbeforetheSongDynasty(960-1279).At
