却赫然发现在壁橱角落的阴暗处，一个让人寒毛倒竖的怪物正用绿幽
幽的眼睛窥视着你，你会作何反应？
尖叫！当然是惊声尖叫！
可你还不知道吧，这样可就正中了怪物们的下怀。
在我们生活的世界之外，怪物们也有一个属于他们的世界，而维
持这个怪物世界的唯一动力能源就是来自小孩子受到惊吓时所发出
的高分贝尖叫，为此，怪物们还成立了自己的怪物有限公司，由这个
公司中的怪物专门负责前往人类世界恐吓孩子们，从而收集他们的尖
叫。
苏利文（约翰·古德曼）是一只蓝紫色皮毛、长着触角的大块头
怪物，它面目狰狞，是怪物有限公司里赫赫有名的顶级恐吓专家之一；
苏利文的专属恐吓助理，同时也是它的好朋友的麦克（比利·克里斯
托）是一只绿色的独眼怪物，别看个子比苏利文小好几号，脾气可不
小，常常喜欢自做主张。此外，公司里还有各式各样性格各异的成员，
CEO（是不是应该叫“首席恐吓官”？）亨利（詹姆斯·柯博），长着
蛇头、爱开玩笑的接待员希莉娅，还有专门和苏利文对着干，互相不
服气的鲍格斯……各类形形色色的怪物各司其职，运作得一点不比人
类开办的公司差。
不过随着小孩子们对怪物们的恐吓把戏越来越习以为常，想得到
他们的尖叫也成了一件异常困难的事，不过这个难不到足智多谋的苏
利文，他带着麦克来到人类世界准备做个“劳模榜样”给所有的恐吓
专家们看看，但是没想到苏利文有违常规的做法带来了意想不到的副
作用——一个两岁的人类小女孩阿布（玛丽·吉布斯）被它们无意中
带回了怪物世界，几千年了，只有怪物到人间，还从来没有发生过人
类来到怪物世界的先例，这下可麻烦大了，精力无比充沛的阿布将怪
