FirstBridgeovertheYangtzeRiver
Forhundredsofyears,ithadbeenadreamtocrossthenaturalmoatoftheYangtze
River.
In1913,ZhanTianyou,oneofChina\'swell----knownrailwayengineers,visited
WuhanandstudiedthepossibilityoftheconstructionoftheYangtzeRiverBridge.
ThebridgewasdecidedtobebuiltbetweentheTortoiseHillinHanyangandthe
unately,,six
yearslater,-senputforwardaproposaltobuildaYangtzeRiverBridgein
njingGovernmentinvitedAmericanexpertsandmadeadraftplan.
MaoYisheng,abridgeexpert,organizedfortwodesignsandtheconstructionwas
auseofwarandlackofmoney,noonewasabletohavethe
bridgebuilt.
AfterthefoundingofNewChina,thecentralgovernmentdecidedtobuildthe
