Is that a very popular subject to study in your country?
(If yes):
Yeah, I suppose it is quite a popular subject to study,
and one of the reasons for this would probably be that a lot
of students feel that this major will be useful in helping
them find a good job after they graduate.
(If no):
I guess I probably wouldnt say so, no, mainly because its
a relatively new major in China, and as far as I know, there
are not that many universities in China which offer this
course.
Is your subject very challenging (or difficult) to study?
(If yes):
Yeah, Id say it is quite challenging, mainly because of
the huge workload we get. So for example, were given a

considerable amount of coursework to do, which always
requires a ton of background reading!
(If no):
Actually, I wouldnt really say so, partly because were not
given that much work to do, and also because its essentially
not that complex (a subject), so everythings relatively easy
to understand.
What do you do when you have a difficulty with your studies?
I guess I normally either ask a coursemate for help or go
on the internet to try and solve the problem myself. And if
Im still stuck, then Ill go and ask my lecturer for help,
but this would be as a last resort, as I dont really like
to bother my lecturers unless I really need to.

How did you learn science at school?
Well, we mainly just went through the text book and took
notes, so it was pretty similar to other subjects. Though
saying that, we occasionally did some experiments, which
were quite fun, but unfortunately those classes were pretty
few and far between.
Why did you choose ...as your major?
Basically it was due to the fact that my parents thought
it was a useful major which would stand me in good stead after
I graduate. Personally Im not so sure, but seeing as I
couldnt think of anything better, I went with my parents
decision.
What do you like about your major?
Thats a good question, and I guess basically the thing I
find most enjoyable about my major is analyzing case studies

of various international companies operating in China,
because for me, stories are the best way to learn things.
And as well as this, I also like the fact that our lectures
are quite interactive, because we are encouraged to ask
questions instead of just sitting and making notes, and this
tends to make the lectures much more interesting.
Whats more important when studying - the student or
teacher?
Well its really hard to say, because obviously both play
an important role, but I guess Id say the student is probably
more important because generally speaking, most studying is
done out of the classroom - at least thats the way I see it!

Describe a long journey you enjoyed.
You should say
where you went
when and why you went there
what landscapes you saw
and explain why this was such an unforgettable trip.
A long journey
One journey I went on that was very long indeed was my trip
around Europe last summer, travelling by train.
I went for a whole month, going all around Europe from my
home country of England east until I got to Eastern Europe,
and then back in a loop to Italy. I went so I could see the
rich history and culture of the continent, which was
practically on my doorstep. I felt it was high time I
embarked on a long trip to experience some more of the world
and its people.
Travelling by train I kept myself occupied by looking out
of the window at the landscapes as they flashed by. The
countryside was mostly fields, but once I got to the Alps
then it became beautiful. There were towering cliffs of
rocks with fast-flowing rivers cutting between valley walls.

I could even see a castle on one of the hillsides. Each city
I visited brought a new style of architecture and type of
person on the street. I saw medieval cottages, baroque
cathedrals and shabby, modern apartment blocks. The
landscape varied with each country I came to.
Ill never forget this trip because it was the first time
I was travelling without a home base. I went with a good
friend and we spent a lot of time together. We had memorable
conver〔sat〕ions on the long train journeys about live,
society, all very deep stuff. I also had the
chance to see some of the worlds most famous sights like the
Eiffel Tower and the Dom cathedral in Cologne. It was
fascinating waking up on a moving train knowing that the next
stop I got off at was going to present me with a whole new
country with many surprises. It was a unique experience.

What do you usually do when you go out? ( 5 - 6 )
I usually go shopping with my mother. The reason for this
is simple. We ladies usually need a lot of clothes to make
us look beautiful, so we love to go shopping. Often we dont
actually buy anything, but just go window-shopping, looking
at all the clothes and comparing prices and quality.
What do you usually do when you go out? ( 7 - 8 )
I usually go to watch a football game with some of my
friends. We go to one of the local stadiums where our
favorite team will be playing. I love the excitement and
suspense. It seems that I often loose my identity in such
a large crowd, and go crazy about the smallest of things.
