it’s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech—change the world， change ourselves。
it’s noticable that western holidays are becoming
increasingly popular day by day， while chinese traditional
festivals are being somewhat neglected。 not long before about
10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity
announced that we should reject the invasion of western
holidays ，because they regard western holidays as an challenge
against our traditional festivals and culture。
frankly speaking， i don’t quite agree with them。indeed，
we should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals
as china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions。
(examples)。but why can’t we absorb the meaningful western
holidays and culture。
there are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so
popular in china。 on the one hand， some of the western
holidays which we chinese don’t have are reasonable and
meaningful， such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc。 on
the other hand，the prevalence of globalization enables western
culture to prevail in china。 overwhelmed by such a trend，chinese unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and
culture。
with the further development of the whole world， the
cultural communication between different countries and nations
becomes faster and more and more important。 we are indeed
from different nations， but we are the citizens of the same world，
so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom
wealth of everyone on the earth。the only way for us to protect
our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? the answer
is definitely no。 what we ought to do is to spare no effort to
educate chinese to get to know and treasure our splendid
traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture。 only by educating
can we set our confidence and belief towards our culture。 only
by educating can we preserve and promote the wealth that our
ancesters left for us。
at last i’d like to share a famouse saying of gandhi with all
of you ，that is:if you want to change the world， then you must
change yourself first。”

present. Therefore, if you want a bright future, you must begin to
prepare for it today.
We say a man is as changeable as the weather. What is meant
is his dreams change. Every time you change your idea you think
differently. You become like a rudderless boat on an ocean.
Therefore realize the importance of holding to your dream until
it becomes a reality .
Catch the star that holds your destiny, the one that forever
twinkles within your heart. Take advantage of precious
opporyunities while they still sparkle before you. Always believe
that your ultimate goal is attainable as long as you commit
yourself to it.
Though barriers may sometimes stand in the way of your
dreams, remember that your destiny is hiding behind them.
Accept the fect that not everyone is goimg to approve of the
choices you've made, have faith in your judgement, catch the star
that twinkles in your heart, and it will lead you to your destiny's
path. Follow that pathway and uncover the sweet sunrises that
await you.
Take pride in your accomplishments, as they are stepping
stones to your dreams. Understand that you may make mistakes,
but don't let them discourage you. Value your capabilities and
talents for they are what make you truly unique. The greatest gifts
in life are not purchased, but acquired through hard work and
determination. Finding the star that twinkles in your heart for you
alone are capable of making your brightest dreams come true.
So don't think that you are neglected, or not understood, or
not appreciated. zsuch thoughts are the thoughts of failure.
Don't pity yourself, criticise yourself. You know that the only
thing in the world that you have got to count upon is yourself.

to give my topic with , I am just a little nervous right now.
And I usually sing a song when I feel nervous. So would you mind

without you. As for me, I can’t imagine me without English in

As we all know, English is an international language. I am 14
years old now and I’ve learnt English for 9 years. It has become
a part of my life. I think English is not only important but also
very useful to me.
I have never thought that, I would pay such more attention
to learning English because when I was six, I always got bad
marks at school and I could not figure out the letters “ R” and
“K”。 Yeah, that is impossible.
One day, my mom came to school and took me home and
she saw the letters on the blackboard. She pointed to “R” and
asked me “What is this?”---“R”。 “And what about this
one”? She pointed to “K”。---“R”! I answered. “Are you
sure?”---“Yep, mummy, They are the same!” I said confidently!
My mom shook her head with an upset face. She was so
disappointed with me. From then on, she tried to use many
different ways in order to improve my English, such as inviting
the private teachers with high salary; finding foreign teachers
online; buying lots of English books or encouraging me to enter
different English competitions and so on. And I also worked very
hard. I got up early every morning to read English books aloud
and had English classes for hours. Sometimes I felt really tired
and I had no progress. I felt frustrated! Luckily, my mum is always
with me! She wanted me to learn everything happily but not with
lots of pressure. She tried to make me relax. It was a kind of
logical game. Would you like to have a try? Follow me, please!
Raise your hands up. This is a gun in my left hand and there are
four birds in my right hand. Now I need to exchange them like
this. Try to do it as fast as you can! Can you do it? Well, maybe it
is a little difficult at first. So did I. So I tried it patiently and
carefully again and again. You see, I can do it as fast as I can now.
I think the way to learn English is still the same. After a difficult
training time, I found that: the more English I’ve learnt
patiently,the more confidence I’ve got and the more interested
I was in learning English.
I am an outgoing girl. I love to explore and know more about
the world. I have some friends from different countries. At first, I
could not follow them clearly. But they were friendly. They treated
me as a member of their family. We could play jokes to each other
or share something interesting together. I remembered one day
I had mentioned to my American teacher that I had a fight with
my friend and I felt left behind. She stopped for a moment and
said: “It doesn’t matter. I am always with you.” At that time I
felt really warm. Sometimes I talk with my friends on Skype and
some of them on QQ. And one of my friend came from
Philippines had asked me to give him the QQ red
interesting, right?
During the time when I learn English, I understand a point
clearly that is “Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from
anyone you can. There will always come a time you will be
grateful you did.” We should always in siston what we are
seeking. I wouldn’t give up learning English. Thanks for your
